We strive for net zero emissions

We believe that climate change is one of the biggest challenges that humanity faces and understand the need to increase the resilience of our manufacturing operations and supply chains. We have set 2 main goals that relate to both our own operations and those across our value chain.

1Net zero operations by 2030 (scope 1-2)

We aim at reducing the emissions across our operations (scope 1-2) by 80% by 2030 compared to 2020.

We will achieve this by:

  • Reducing our operational emissions
  • Completing the switch of all our plants to renewable energy by 2030

As of 2030 we will offset our remaining emission to achieve carbon neutrality. In 2021, six of our plants were already labelled carbon neutral.

2Reducing emissions across our value chain (scope 3) by 25% by 2030 compared with 2020

We aim to reduce these emissions through product design, supplier engagement and optimized logistics.

Science-based targets

In 2022, the Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTI) confirmed that the Ontex climate targets are consistent with the latest climate science needed to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement – limiting global warming to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and continuing efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C.

SBTI is a collaboration between the United Nations Global Compact, the World Wide Fund for Nature, the World Resources Institute and the Carbon Disclosure Project.
