Ontex announces that it has entered into a binding agreement to sell its Brazilian business activities to Softys S.A. for an enterprise value of BRL 671 million (or approximately €110 million).

Ontex announces the intention to restructure its Belgian production and distribution activities, as part of its strategic transformation to strengthen its competitive position in the European market. Ontex announces that it has entered into a binding agreement to sell its Mexican business activities for approximately €285 million to Softys S.A., a personal hygiene company with operations across Latin America. Softys is a wholly owned subsidiary of Empresas CMPC S.A., headquartered in Chile.

Today Ontex opened a new facility in Stokesdale, part of Rockingham County in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The new Ontex plant currently employs nearly 100 people and manufactures baby diapers for retailers and lifestyle brands. The new plant is planned to expand its production and workforce to also manufacture other product categories.

Ontex commits to achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2030. The company will reduce its own greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030. Ontex aims to achieve these goals through energy savings, on-site renewable energy production, purchasing energy from renewable sources, and carbon offsets via reforestation projects. Ontex also wants to cut the emissions of its global supply chain by 25% by 2030.
