Ontex has received a top ‘A’ rating for leadership in corporate transparency and performance on climate change from global environmental non-profit Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

Ontex has activated a large solar installation at the site of its factory in Ortona, Italy. Ontex plans to become carbon neutral and less dependent on energy from the grid through on-site renewable energy generation.

Ontex commits to achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2030. The company will reduce its own greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030. Ontex aims to achieve these goals through energy savings, on-site renewable energy production, purchasing energy from renewable sources, and carbon offsets via reforestation projects. Ontex also wants to cut the emissions of its global supply chain by 25% by 2030.

Ontex supports Woosh, a Belgian startup that aims to make diaper recycling a reality in Ontex’ home country. Woosh now delivers recyclable, disposable diapers and collects used diapers from more than 200 day care centres in Belgium with more than 5,200 children. Together with waste companies Woosh aims to set up the first diaper recycling facility in Belgium.

Ontex is donating 6,000 sanitary napkins to 29 schools and boarding schools of the non-profit association SKOG in Ghent, Belgium to combat rising menstrual poverty.

Ontex has donated more than 1 million personal hygiene items for refugees from Ukraine during the past 2 weeks.

To help school children from disadvantaged families who cannot afford a computer to follow lessons from home, Ontex is donating 50 laptop computers. The end-of-lease devices have been decommissioned and will be donated to families in the area surrounding Ontex' headquarters in Aalst, Belgium, through local charity 4Dewereldgroep Aalst.

Since the start of the pandemic, Ontex has donated more than 5.3 million Ontex products to people in need. Given the urgent need for hygiene items for families in need in Belgium, especially in the Eastern region hit by catastrophic floods in the second half of 2021, Ontex Belgium is donating more than 142,000 baby diapers through the Red Cross.

Since the start of the pandemic, Ontex has donated more than 4.5 million Ontex products to people in need. Ahead of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, which is an international observance taking place each year on October 17th, Ontex today announces an additional donation of 7,500 face masks to charity organization Vierdedewereld groep Mensen voor Mensen.

Woosh aims to deliver disposable diapers and collect used diapers from 1,000 nurseries in Belgium by 2024 and expand the service to other countries. Together with other partners, Woosh aims to enable the first diaper recycling site in Belgium. Ontex collaborates with recycling companies to make its diapers more recyclable and is committed to progressively moving to a circular economy business model.

Ontex received B scores(1) from CDP in 2020 for both its climate and forest protection efforts, improving on the scores achieved in 2019.
